Local Leadership for Our Energy Future
In an era when so much feels beyond our control, it's refreshing to have the kind of direct local democracy that our Holy Cross Energy cooperative provides. We have the opportunity to shape where our power comes from and what it costs by ensuring our cooperative leadership reflects our values of community, stewardship, and innovation.
I’m Alex DeGolia, and I am asking you for the opportunity to champion these values on the Holy Cross board to help us create the utility of the future - one that can simultaneously expand access to affordable, clean, and reliable energy, promote economic development, and tackle climate change.
My wife and I are proud to call Carbondale, where she was born and raised, our home. We deeply value our small town community life and the natural environment that surrounds us. In February, 2020 we welcomed our first son, Wallace, and can't think of a better place to raise our family.
I was a natural resources policy staffer in the Obama White House, a wilderness instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), hold a PhD in environmental management, and am current Deputy Director of the Carbondale-based Catena Foundation, where I support a clean energy transition that will benefit communities across our region and state.
Our co-op is so much more than an electricity supplier. It’s an engine of economic development and job growth in our communities, a nexus for technological development, and a vital platform for a new generation of cleaner and cheaper energy technologies that will make our region a true national leader in innovative policies and good-paying skilled trades and STEM jobs.
We deserve leaders with the experience to take full advantage of the current energy transition while keeping costs low for small business and families. I’d be honored to be your voice for those values on our Holy Cross Board.
